International students are allowed to work part-time for a maximum of 20 hours per week. Part-time work is permitted only on holidays and semester breaks above 7 days. Students in Malaysia are permitted to work in Hotels, Restaurants, Petrol Kiosks and Super Markets etc., on a valid student permit. Students are not allowed to work as cash collector in any firm during their study period.
The International students are permitted to return to their home country or stay back in Malaysia after completing their course. The stay back period depends upon the duration of each course.
According to the present Permanent Residency Rules of Malaysia, an applicant must continuously live for a minimum of 5 years in the country on a work visa or long-stay visa. PR application should be accompanied by a completed permanent residence form (IMM.4) and the Passport as proof of the applicant's 5 years continuous stay in Malaysia. The PR application should also be supported by a sponsorship from a Malaysian citizen or a Malaysian PR holder.
